Pre-Law Advising Appointments
Our goal is to provide you the guidance you need, and as much individual assistance as possible. We have a very small pre-law advising staff, so it's possible you'll wait a week or two for an appointment.
If you have a quick question, you can e-mail it to us at prelaw@class.cla.umn.edu. You should also browse our online pre-law info. There you'll find answers to many of your questions. You'll also get a lot of your questions answered at our pre-law workshops.
What You Need to Know about Appointments:
- All appointments are 30 minutes long. To make the most of those 30 minutes, we advise you to prepare your questions in advance and bring them with you.
- All appointments are in 135 Johnston Hall.
- If you need a critique of your personal statement, mention that when making your appointment. Then e-mail us your personal statement at least 48 business-hours before your appointment (prelaw@class.cla.umn.edu). If we don't receive it in advance, we will have to cancel and reschedule your appointment.
- If you'd like a resume critique, you don't need to meet with the pre-law advisor. CLA students can get a resume critique at our office anytime, no appointment needed. Visit us in 135 Johnston Hall weekdays between 8 and 4:30 for that. [If you're not a CLA student, your college career office will review your resume. U of M career offices are listed here.]
- To set up your pre-law appointment, call the Career and Community Learning Center at 612-624-7577.
