Senior Creative Associate/IT Specialist

Name: Christina Nguyen

Major(s): English

Current Job Title: Senior Creative Associate/IT Specialist

Organization: Marketing & Communications Company

Brief description of your job:

I'm a writer for a marketing communications company. The majority of my job involves writing, but I also do some other work creating PowerPoint presentations, developing ad concepts and even fixing computers. Since I work for a small company, I'm the whole IT department, and I also do most of the technical writing for our clients.

Other job titles you have held:

Academic Advisor

What advice do you have for current students?

When you are still in school, make contact with people in the field you want to go into. Do informational interviews. Join professional organizations where you will meet people who can advise you and perhaps become a friend or a mentor. Do an internship. Then when you graduate, contact these people you have met and see if they have any ideas (or job openings!) to help you begin your career.
