Judge, Hennepin County District Court

Name: Kevin S. Burke

Major: Political Science

Current Job Title: Judge

Organization: Hennepin County District Court

Brief description of your job:

Trial court, court of general jurisdication. In the past, I've served as Chief Judge and other leadership positions on the bench.

Other job titles you have held:

Assistant Public Defender, 1975-1979

Private Practice, 1979-1984

What advice do you have for current students?

In the first year, make sure that you take a balanced schedule that doesn't overwhelm you. Avoid trying to switch majors or be undecided. The goal is to graduate in four years. For many careers, such as mine in law, the major, frankly, is not as important as some might think.
