Graduate Student, Microbial Engineering

Jessica K.
Major(s):
Biology
Current Job Title: Graduate Student

Brief description of your job:
After graduating with a biology degree, I spent some time working in a microbiology lab and applied to graduate school. I am now in the Microbial Engineering masters program at the University through the Biotechnology Institute. With this program, I am required to take a few classes, but most of my responsibility is doing research in a biochemistry lab.

Other job titles you have held:
Most of my work experience has been in a lab. After graduation, I went from being considered a student worker to a Junior Scientist/Research Assistant.

What advice do you have for current students:
Plan 1-55 years ahead, follow the plan, and when the time is up, decide if you are happy with what you are doing. If you aren't, make another plan.
