Name: Colleen Ware

Major: English

Current Job Title: Editor

Organization: College of Liberal Arts, University of Minnesota

Brief description of your job: Currently I am working part time from home as I am also a stay-at-home mom. I am doing copyediting, research, and providing some usability advice for some of the college's websites.

Before this, I worked full time as an editor on print and web projects, including manuals, handbooks, and brochures.

Other job titles you have held:
Editor
Assistant editor
Human resources assistant
Administrative assistant

What advice do you have for current students? Get involved in activities and groups. Get to know your professors and fellow students. You will find that connections can help you a lot.

If you think you are interested in something, try to find an opportunity to try it out or to talk to someone who does that thing. Learn more about it.

If you're not sure what you want to be when you grow up, take advantage of the resources that CCLC has to help you figure that out. Don't wait until your senior year!
