Customer Service Representative, Liberty Mutual Insurance Group

Lee Orosz
Major(s):
English
Current Job Title: Customer Service Representative
Organization Name: Liberty Mutual Insurance Group

Brief description of your job:
I handle incoming calls from policy holders

Other job titles you have held:
None so far, I am just out of college

How have you found these positions?
Star Tribune

What skills from your degree do you use in your current work?
Communication skills, being able to interact with other people, listening to needs of people

What advice do you have for current students?
Pick a degree or major that you think you will actually pursue. If possible, have interaction with people who have degrees and are working now to see what those people do. I think if I had realized what I could have or really wanted to do, I don't know if I would have majored in English. Don't assume that what you major in is directly going to correlate with what you will actually end up doing, especially with a Liberal Arts degree. Mostly, enjoy what you major in and later enjoy what job you do.
