Name: Rebekah Kent

Major: Political Science, Psychology

Law School: University of Minnesota

How many schools did you apply to? What criteria did you use in picking these schools? I applied to 5 different schools. I was looking for joint degree programs with public health, so I looked for schools that offered those programs.

How did you prepare for the LSAT? Do you have any advice? Buy a book and just get familiar with the test by taking tests over and over. You don't need to spend money on the Kaplan or other classes, as the books give you the same experience.

What strategies did you use in networking with the professors and employers who wrote letters of recommendation for you? Went to their office and talked with them about the course I was taking or about their work.

How did you go about writing your personal statement? How much did you change your personal statement to fit each school? I looked into each school and then wrote about what about that school was attractive to me, and what I could bring to that institution.

If you had a chance to go through the process again, is there anything you would have done differently? I would have started studying for the LSAT further ahead of time.

Is law school like you expected it would be? Why or why not? It's harder than I thought, but it is very interesting. It's a subject that touches every aspect of life, yet you don't realize it until you're in law school.
